Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War had more victims than previously known, as Avengers: Endgame’s script reveals more characters who were dusted. The Mad Titan, played by Josh Brolin, made his proper debut in Avengers: Infinity War after a few prior MCU cameos, and his presence was felt immediately. Thanos was responsible for killing a few major Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. Still, the likes of Loki and Gamora dying paled in comparison to him snapping half of all life in the universe out of existence.

Fans across the world were in disbelief as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (Tom Holland), T’Challa aka Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), most of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and more turned to dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. These emotional goodbyes did not account for every MCU character who vanished though. The mid-credits scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp revealed Hope van Dyne aka Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglass), and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) were lost. Meanwhile, Avengers: Endgame revealed a higher toll - but it didn’t show all of them.

The final script for Avengers: Endgame has revealed that Wong (Benedict Wong), Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt) were also among those who were snapped. They are the latest off-screen snap victims and joined the likes of Shuri (Letitia Wright) and Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), whose fates were confirmed in the movie as the Avengers surveyed everyone who was lost. In the script for Avengers: Endgame, this same scene is where Wong, Jane Foster, and Thunderbolt Ross’ fates were supposed to be revealed.

In each case, the vanishing of these three characters adds new layers to Avengers: Endgame. Without Wong, Earth would’ve been without two of their biggest sorcerers, as Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) was also gone. He reappeared for the final battle against Thanos, though, and helped coordinate the transportation of the massive army for Endgame’s final battle, which is even more impressive if he wasn’t around for the last five years. It also means that Wong didn’t get to attend Tony and Pepper’s wedding after receiving a verbal invite in Avengers: Infinity War. Meanwhile, there were previously teases Jane Foster may have survived the snap, but this would debunk those beliefs. Finally, the absence of Thunderbolt Ross could be why the Sokovia Accords fell by the wayside during that time.

Now that the fates of Wong, Jane, and Ross have been revealed, their shared inclusions in Phase 4 become all the more fascinating as well. It was previously thought that Wong survived the Snap, so he and Strange not being around would leave Earth vulnerable to mystical foes. This could potentially reveal why Nightmare is now emerging in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We know that Jane is returning in Thor: Love and Thunder too, but she was not among those to live through life after The Snap. If Thor 4 does tackle her cancer storyline, this would mean that she either had to be diagnosed before Avengers: Infinity War or after she was brought back. It has also been revealed that Ross will have a role in Black Widow, but he is also rumored to be part of She-Hulk. Now that he’s back around and Sokovia Accords largely abandoned, the new world that Ross now finds himself in could spark an interest in forming his own team, such as the Thunderbolts, in the future.

As of now, it is important to remember that Wong, Jane, and Ross being part of The Snap is only in Avengers: Endgame’s script, though. It is possible that these details were cut from the movie because Marvel Studios has other plans in mind for their backstories as Phase 4 begins. After all, Benedict Wong believed his MCU character survived the snap. But, if they are indeed canon, then Thanos’ snap continues to claim victims long after it happened.
