A new fan poster for Avengers: Infinity War makes great use of the Infinity Gauntlet and unites some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest heroes (and one villain). The highly-anticipated superhero film comes from Captain America: Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed the film based on a script from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who’ve written the screenplays for every Captain America film as well as Thor: The Dark World thus far.
Avengers: Infinity War culminates the past 10 years of storytelling - spanning across 18 blockbuster films - and unites every corner of the MCU for an ultimate showdown between the Earth’s mightiest heroes and the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin), who will be attempting to acquire all six Infinity Stones with the help of his loyal Black Order. That’s the basic premise of the film (at least from what’s been made public), with Thanos looking to embed all six stones onto the Infinity Gauntlet, which will make him (or whoever wears the Infinity Gauntlet) the most powerful being in the multiverse. So, it’s no wonder that fans are focusing on the Infinity Gauntlet more than anything else, as evidenced by a new fan poster that’s making the rounds online.
Digital artist Mr. Design Junkie created a fan poster for Avengers: Infinity War (below) that showcases the Infinity Gauntlet, which is comprised of the MCU’s titular heroes - Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Black Panther, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and more - as well as one villain/anti-hero: Loki. Upon closer inspection, some of the characters are repeated throughout the poster, namely Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Ant-Man. Take a look:
The poster also contains part of Thanos’ quote from the first Avengers 3 trailer from last November: “Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives.” While most people have been focusing on Thanos’ quote from the tail-end of the trailer in which he says, “This does put a smile on my face,” the supervillain’s quote about having the superheroes finally know what it’s like to lose. After all, if there was ever a villain that truly stood a chance of defeating the Avengers (even with the help of the Guardians of the Galaxy), it’s Thanos. While the above poster isn’t official, its concept is quite intriguing. Sure, Marvel’s official Avengers 3 poster continues the trend of past Avengers posters, but something like this might actually be better suited for building up hype.
So far, five of the six Infinity Stones have been found. The Soul Stone is the only one that still remains a mystery, though there are some theories as to where it’s located. Most recently, supposedly leaked art for Avengers 3 suggests that Tony Stark/Iron Man actually possess the Soul Stone. Of course, it’s also possible that Heimdall could have the Soul Stone. Neither theory has been confirmed yet, and they most likely won’t be confirmed until Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters this April (its global release was moved up to April 27).
