New official Avengers: Infinity War promo art gives us a good look at Proxima Midnight. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the upcoming Marvel blockbuster will bring together all pockets of MCU as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes gear up to face their biggest and baddest foe yet, Thanos.
While Thanos has been the main focus of Marvel Studios’ promo for Infinity War, the Mad Titan cannot do it alone. He’ll get help from the Black Order (reimagined as his children): Corvus Glaive, Cull Obsidian, Ebony Maw and Proxima Midnight. One of the original members of the Order in the comics (and seems like an exact adaptation too), Proxima Midnight has the usual super abilities further enhanced by her spear weapon made from a star which is able to track any target, as well as cut through any substance. Now, we get an official character artwork for the antagonist.
Courtesy of Ne0nN1ghtmare from Reddit, the promo illustration from Marvel Legends figure packaging offers us a closer look at Proxima Midnight. From the illustration, it seems like Marvel Studios didn’t change much regarding her look except her headpiece. Instead of covering her whole head like how it is in the comic books, it now appears to be just a headband. Unfortunately, while we see her holding her spear, we don’t see its blades. Check it out below:
The emergence of the official promo art follows the release of another Infinity War illustration with Thanos and his children looming on the Avengers. After the Black Order was officially announced during D23 last year, word about them has been scarce. And even after a teaser trailer and Super Bowl spot the movie, we haven’t gotten a full profile at all four members of the group other than a quick look at Proxima Midnight battling Captain America, Falcon, and Black Widow plus a leg-shot of Corvus Glaive trying to get the Mind Stone from Vision’s forehead. But more than their aesthetics, we’re interested in their working relationship with the Mad Titan. If Nebula and Gamora are any indication, it seems like the supervillain isn’t exactly the best father figure there is and we wonder if any of the Order members also have distaste toward Thanos.
With Black Panther only days before hitting theaters, Disney and Marvel Studios’ marketing machine will slowly veer towards Avengers: Infinity War, slated to come out in just a few months. We expect that at least one more full trailer for the film is on the docket while tie-in merchandise will starting to roll out. Hopefully we’ll learn more about the villainous team in the coming weeks.
