This week on The Bachelor, producers orchestrated yet another surprise ex controversy when Victoria Fuller went on a date with Peter Weber to see a Chase Rice concert. All parties involved had no idea this was happening, except for the Bachelor producers, of course. So now it’s time to break down Victoria’s relationship with Rice and understand the true extent of their relationship and what caused the fling to end.
With only a few weeks into this season, Victoria has already established herself as a contestant to watch on Weber’s season. Describing herself as “meek and shy,” she has struggled to take control of the uncomfortable situation. Instead, of stepping forward and aggressively showing her interest for Weber like some of the other women, Fuller often appears awkward and ill-at-ease in front of the cameras. Still, she’s managed to catch Weber’s attention, even getting a one-on-one date with Peter. Though, neither she nor Peter knew that they would be attending a concert of a country music singer that happened to be Victoria’s ex.
Victoria walked into the concert with nothing in mind but to have fun and do her best to make a lasting impression on Peter, but after she realized it was her ex, Chase Rice, performing for them she rightfully freaked out. She came clean to Peter, saying, “I can’t do this.” That’s when she revealed to her current date that she had once dated Rice. The country singer revealed on Fitz in the Morning radio show (via People) on Monday that he thought he was on the ABC reality show to promote his music as many other performers have done in the past. However, he revealed that he was blindsided by the Bachelor producers just as much as Victoria was. The 34-year-old country singer revealed the extent of their dating, saying, “We spent a night together in Charlotte.” He said that he doesn’t have any ill feelings for her or The Bachelor star. He said, “She’s a cool chick, from what I know of her.” Rice continued, “You know, I got no problem with her. I got no problem with him. You know, I knew she was going on the show.”
Though Rice has dabbled in reality TV before when he appeared on Survivor: Nicaragua, he said that he had no desire to be apart of the drama on the show and only wanted to promote his new album. Though it’s unsure why they stopped seeing each other, just before Rice appeared on the show, he spoke to ET and told them that two of his songs on his album The Album Part I had to do with a messy breakup. Though he didn’t name names, he spoke about a horrible breakup with a girl, saying, “She’s great. It just wasn’t the right time.” He then revealed to the news outlet that he had actually played the track “Everywhere” to said girl and “she was uncomfortable. She laughed… She never thought she’d have a song written about her and if she did, she didn’t want it to be that.”
It does seem interesting to fans that Rice would be plugging his album about a mystery ex and then appear on The Bachelor and run into an ex. It just adds another layer of drama that maybe some of the songs on the album were actually about Victoria and the Bachelor producers were aware of that and orchestrated all of it for maximum drama. Regardless, fans can safely say that what Victoria thought was going to be one of the best dates of her life turned out to be one of the most cringe-worthy ever.
