Bachelor in Paradise’s Caelynn Miller-Keyes has finally responded to Blake Hortsmann releasing private text messages between them. The exchange revealed she’d been misleading viewers about her relationship with Hortsmann.
A lot has happened so far on this season of Bachelor in Paradise, a reality show that offers former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants a second chance at love. It’s only the first week and somehow Hortsmann, the rumored “villain” of this season, is already in a love pentagon with several women on the show. Not only has he hooked up with multiple contestants already, including Tayshia Adams and Hannah Godwin, but he was thrown under the bus when Miller-Keyes called him out for sleeping with her after the Stagecoach music festival earlier this year, just one night after he slept with another contestant, Kristina Shulman. After the episodes aired, Hortsmann, in an effort to clear his name, released private text messages between him and Miller-Keyes on his Instagram story, painting a very different picture of the situation. In the exchange, Miller-Keyes essentially begs Hortsmann to let her come over so they can have casual sex, “nothing more, nothing less,” she wrote. Now, she’s responded to the texts, giving her full side of the story.
In an Instagram post, Miller-Keyes said she wasn’t going to “deny” the validity of the text messages - which took place the day of Stagecoach and one week before she and Hortsmann appeared on Bachelor in Paradise - but stressed that it was a “complicated situation” and that because of social media it’s “taken [on] a life of its own.” She didn’t go into too much detail, but said that she has a different “perception” of how things went down between her and Hortsmann, and that they had been talking for months before Stagecoach. Essentially, what Hortsmann viewed as an innocent fling meant a lot more to Miller-Keyes. She added that she never meant to ruin Hortsmann’s character and that she just wanted to confront him face-to-face.
Unfortunately, Hortsmann’s character has already been dragged to filth by Bachelor Nation, but he’s attempting to redeem himself. However, by doing so, and releasing their private texts, the internet vitriol has been redirected at Miller-Keyes. Hortsmann eventually took the exchange off Instagram and asked trolls to “stop attacking” Miller-Keyes, who has faced harassment since the messages came to light. At the end of her post, Miller-Keyes said she hoped everyone could support her, rather than tear her down, and that she has “moved on” and is excited to share the rest of her “journey” with fans.
Now that viewers know the truth, hopefully everyone can move past the drama between Hortsmann and Miller-Keyes - and the internet can finally stop attacking them over past mistakes. And hopefully Hortsmann’s learned his lesson about sleeping with multiple women from the same friend group.
