Bachelor Nation stars are rooting for Derek Peth to be the next Bachelor. He’s currently the front-runner on a long list of potential new stars of the next season of The Bachelor, premiering next year.

Peth is a former contestant on The Bachelorette, who appeared on JoJo Fletcher’s season in 2016, and again on two seasons of the spinoff Bachelor in Paradise, where members of Bachelor Nation stay in a Mexican resort for several weeks in an attempt to make a genuine connection. The first time Peth appeared on Bachelor in Paradise, he ended up getting engaged to Taylor Nolan, from Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor. The two broke off their engagement, however, due to the strains of a long-distance relationship. This summer, Peth found love once again on Bachelor in Paradise with contestant Demi Burnett, before she told him she still had feelings for a woman she was seeing back home, Kristian Haggerty. Burnett then broke things off with Peth to pursue a relationship with Haggerty, who’s been invited to stay in paradise. Now, Bachelor Nation is trying to help Peth out by pushing ABC to cast him as the next Bachelor.

Wells Adams, the bartender on Bachelor in Paradise - who also appeared on Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette with Peth - took to social media to sing his praises after he had his heart broken in paradise, using the hashtag #DerekforBachelor. According to Us Weekly, Bachelor in Paradise co-star Kristina Schulman also shared her love for Peth and endorsed him as the next Bachelor. She called Peth “emotionally intelligent, sensitive, sweet, and understanding.” And viewers clearly agree. A lot of Bachelor Nation felt bad for Peth after Burnett dumped him, and even worse when they found out he’d have to watch Burnett and Haggerty’s love unfold in Mexico. One fan wrote, “I would 100% be down for Derek being the next Bachelor… he has shown a truly beautiful side of himself on BIP. The maturity is off the charts and I think he would go into his own season with genuine intentions and purpose. #DerekForBachelor."

Other Bachelor Nation stars have shared their top picks for the next Bachelor. The front-runners so far have been Mike Johnson and Peter Weber (“Pilot Pete”) from Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. Tyler Cameron, the runner-up from Brown’s season, was also in consideration, but given things are going well between him and supermodel Gigi Hadid, it doesn’t look like he’ll be accepting that job offer any time soon. A lot of fans would like to see Johnson cast, as the series has never had a black Bachelor before. He’s also not had much luck so far on this season of Bachelor in Paradise. But, Demi Lovato is thirsting after him, so either way, he’s doing OK.

Fans will have to wait until Bachelor in Paradise is over before ABC will announce the next Bachelor. Johnson could make Bachelor history, Peth could get his fourth shot at love, Weber could redeem himself after a rocky season on The Bachelorette - or maybe Liam Hemsworth will get a shot. Anything can happen. But as Chris Harrison would say, it’ll probably be the most dramatic season yet.
