The embassy works from Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday is a holiday. General working hours are 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. The timings for receiving and drop off time is 9.30 am to 1.00 pm. How to apply for an e-passport?

First, you have to apply online by going to the website that is mentioned on the website of the embassy. Then you have to sign in and fill out the required details. Check the fees, required documents, and the payment method on the official website and pay the fees. A bank-certified check or a money order in the name of the Consulate General of Bangladesh, New York is needed. Be sure that you have all the necessary documents and visit the embassy after making an appointment.

Applying for No-Visa Required

In the case of covid 19, those who want to visit Bangladesh can apply for no visa required endorsement. You have to send the required documentation as well as the postal and the return mail to the embassy. First, you need to fill out the online form and print out the form. 

You should buy a money order in the name of the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York. After receiving the proper documents, the embassy will deliver you the endorsement as soon as possible. You can collect the passport after 3 days at the counter between 3 to 5 pm. 

Applying for Dual Nation Certificate

You can have a dual nation certificate. The Bangladesh government allows it under special circumstances. Dual citizenship means you are considered a citizen of two countries. Those who have Bangladeshi origin but are citizens of the USA, UK, Canada, and Europe can apply for this dual nation certificate. 

If you are a citizen who wants a dual national certificate for you or your children, you should send the necessary documents to the Consulate general. The Consulate General then will forward your application along with your documents to the Ministry of Home Affairs situated in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. 

After the procedure is completed, the Ministry will send back your documents and you can collect them from the Consulate General.

Applying for Alive Certificate

Retired government servants can apply for the alive certificate. You will be needing a photocopy of your Bangladesh passport, pension book, and Government order of your retirement. Or else, the Alive certificate that you got from the previous government is also enough.
