At this point in time, the arrival of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice brings with it a high level of anticipation befitting its blockbuster status. While the source of this anticipation no doubt stems from seeing the titular superheroes and future members of the Justice League duke it out, fan excitement for seeing two of the biggest names in comic book lore tussle, can only be amplified by the format in which the movie is viewed. For those with access to an IMAX cinema, the large format screen seems to be one of the best possible venues in which to watch the battle unfold.
And now, thanks to a few new TV spots, both Batman V Superman and IMAX are happy to remind future audiences that the film will be making its mark on the large format screen when it’s released on March 25.
While the TV spots are quick and to the point, with not too much in the way of new footage, they still pack quite a punch. The spots also take on a different sort of significance with the recent rumour floating around that Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) role in the movie is larger than expected. Seeing her burst forward into flaming wreckage only adds to the overall immensity of these IMAX spots, adding to the impression that in Batman V Superman, the action will be full throttle – even amongst those characters who aren’t its primary stars.
It might not seem like much of a risk, due to the current hype surrounding the movie, but Warner Bros. has a lot riding on this. Success for Batman V Superman will clear the way for the upcoming Justice League movies and all the future titles planned for the DC Extended Universe. Anything less than a remarkable box office run for the film will leave a sour taste in the mouths of fans and seriously mar the progress of so much of what Warner Bros. has worked to build.
With any luck, fans will turn out in droves for Batman V Superman. An excellent opening weekend, followed by even an average run will still likely pave the way for whatever else Warner Bros. has planned, especially now that Zack Snyder is already teasing production on the upcoming Justice League film by reminding fans that there will be much more than Batman and Superman in the years to come.
